Keyboard Shortcuts & Useful Run Commands – Make Your Laptop Work Faster and Smarter

Most of us use laptops and PCs daily, but very few people actually take full advantage of keyboard shortcuts and Windows run commands that can make life much easier.
Instead of clicking through multiple menus, you can perform many tasks instantly using simple key combinations or small commands. I thought it would be great to start a discussion where we can all share useful shortcuts and tricks.
Let me start with some of the most helpful ones I personally use every day 👇
🔹 Common Keyboard Shortcuts Everyone Should Know
These basic shortcuts save a lot of time:
Ctrl + C – Copy
Ctrl + V – Paste
Ctrl + X – Cut
Ctrl + Z – Undo
Ctrl + Y – Redo
Ctrl + A – Select All
Ctrl + F – Find
Alt + Tab – Switch between open apps
Windows Key + D – Show Desktop
Windows Key + E – Open File Explorer
Windows Key + L – Lock the PC
Ctrl + Shift + Esc – Open Task Manager
Windows Key + PrtScn – Take a screenshot
Alt + F4 – Close current window
Once you get used to these, you’ll realize how much faster you can work without touching the mouse.

Press Windows Key + R to open the Run box and type these commands to quickly access important settings:
System & Settings Commands
msconfig – Open System Configuration
control – Open Control Panel
appwiz.cpl – Open Programs and Features (Uninstall Apps)
devmgmt.msc – Open Device Manager
services.msc – Open Windows Services
taskmgr – Open Task Manager
gpedit.msc – Open Group Policy Editor
regedit – Open Registry Editor
cmd – Open Command Prompt
powershell – Open Windows PowerShell
Cleaning & Performance Related Commands
These are very useful for maintenance:
%temp% – Open temporary files folder (can delete junk files)
temp – Another temp folder location
prefetch – Access prefetch files
cleanmgr – Open Disk Cleanup
eventvwr – Open Event Viewer to check system logs
Deleting files from %temp% regularly can free up a lot of unnecessary space and speed up your system.

ncpa.cpl – Open Network Connections
ipconfig (via Command Prompt) – Show IP details
ping google.com – Test internet connectivity
netplwiz – Manage user accounts
